1. Who we are
Offer Accepted Ltd is a company registered in England & Wales. We are the data controller for personal data collected through www.offeraccepted.co.uk and the related services. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
2. What we collect
Depending on how you use the service, we may collect:
- Contact details — name, email, phone number, postal area;
- Property details — postcode, property type, age, agreed purchase price;
- Survey content — RICS survey reports you upload, and any notes you provide about them;
- Service preferences — which professionals you want introductions to, your timeline;
- For professionals and surveyors — firm details, registration numbers, insurance, references, and contact information;
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, basic page-visit metadata.
3. Why we collect it
We use your personal data to deliver the service you've asked for — connecting you with the right UK professionals, communicating with you about your enquiry, vetting suppliers, paying revenue-share to surveyor partners, and meeting our regulatory obligations (anti-money-laundering checks, referral-fee disclosure, GDPR compliance).
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with third-party marketing platforms. We do not use it to target you with advertising outside the service.
4. Legal basis
We rely on the following UK GDPR lawful bases:
- Contract — to provide the service you've asked us for;
- Legitimate interests — to vet suppliers, prevent fraud, improve the service, and run our business efficiently;
- Consent — for any optional marketing communications, and for sharing your details with a specific professional you have asked us to introduce you to;
- Legal obligation — where we need to retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law (for example, anti-money-laundering, regulatory disclosure, or court orders).
5. Sharing with professionals
The core of the service is that we share your details with professionals you have asked us to introduce you to. We will tell you, at the point of introduction, exactly who we are sending your details to and why.
Each professional we introduce you to is an independent data controller for the data they receive from you. They are responsible for their own data handling under their own privacy policy. We require all partners to comply with UK GDPR and we audit this periodically.
We will not share your details with any professional you have not asked us to.
6. How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as we need it. As a guide:
- Active buyer enquiries — for the duration of your transaction, plus a reasonable aftercare window;
- Survey PDFs — deleted on request, otherwise retained for the duration of the buyer relationship;
- Supplier and surveyor partner data — for as long as the partnership is active, plus a regulatory retention period;
- Marketing consents — until you withdraw them.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it if it's wrong, ask us to delete it ("right to erasure"), restrict our use of it, port it to another service, and object to certain processing. You can exercise any of these rights by emailing privacy@offeraccepted.co.uk with your request. We aim to respond within one calendar month.
8. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to understand how it's used. Essential cookies are always on. Analytics cookies (if used) are opt-in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can manage cookie preferences in your browser at any time.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data — encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, vetted suppliers for hosting and processing, and regular reviews of our security posture. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you and the ICO promptly if we ever experience a breach that affects your data.
10. Contact & complaints
For any data-protection enquiry, email privacy@offeraccepted.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We'd prefer the chance to put things right first — please get in touch.
